  1. Hello,

  3.     You are now in the 'home' directory of the NetBSD/Atari release,
  4. further referred to as $HOME in this README. This directory tree
  5. contains the NetBSD/Atari-1.1 release.
  6.  
  7. A quick overview of the directory structure:
  8.  
  9.     - floppies :
  10.         This directory contains the images for the boot and
  11.         install floppies. This directory also contains the
  12.         installation document 'INSTALL'. This document describes
  13.         how the installation and update procedures work. You
  14.         should read this document _before_ doing anything!
  15.  
  16.     - binary:
  17.         This directory contains the binary distrubition sets.
  18.  
  19.     - kernels:
  20.         This directory contains the available kernels. Note that
  21.         the 'BOOT.gz' kernel is the same as the one on the boot
  22.         floppy.
  23.     - security:
  24.         This directory contains the binaries that include DES
  25.         software. As I can't build them myself according to
  26.         US-law, I merely copied them from the amiga distribution
  27.         for completeness.
  28.     - utils.tos:
  29.         This directory contains various TOS utilities needed
  30.         to install NetBSD/Atari that are not on the boot floppy.

  32.     - utils.NetBSD:
  33.         Some utilities that might come in handy.
  34.  
  35. Most, if not all, files have the '.gz' extension. They are 'gzipped' and
  36. can be unpacked using 'gzip'. There is also a gzip.ttp available in
  37. 'utils.tos'.

  39. If you are wondering how the floppy images found here can be put on
  40. floppy using TOS, grab 'rawwrite' from the "utils.tos" directory and look
  41. in INSTALL how to use it.

  43. You are advised to browse through the various 'README' files.

  45. There exists a FAQ for NetBSD/Atari. It can be found at ftp.netbsd.org
  46. in the directory: /pub/NetBSD/arch/atari . Please read it before
  47. sending out questions to either the mailing-list or me. Your problem
  48. might be solved there. If it is not, you can ask it on the mailing
  49. list. You can subscribe to it by sending a mail with body text
  50. "subscribe port-atari" to majordom@NetBSD.ORG.

  52. If you have a TT or Falcon without FPU, you should replace the kernel
  53. on the bootfloppy with the kernel 'BOOT-fpe.gz' from the kernels
  54. directory.
